Hallmak has been consistently releasing one new Transfomers character in the Keepsake series since 2014. They've been mostly good about alternating between Autobots and Decepticons; last year was an Autobot, so
this year they had to go after a bad guy. This is number eight in the series (previous releases have included Optimus Prime, Megatron, Grimlock, Soundwave, Bumblebee, Starscream, and Jazz).

As with previous releases, Shockwave is based predominantly on the original Hasbro toy incarnation. He's a dark, rich purple, a bit more vibrant than the 1984 release. He stands about 4 1/4" in height, with the loop for the ornament hook (sold separately) embedded in the top of his head. The pose isn't especially dynamic (he's just standing at attention with his gun-arm raised slightly) but at least he can stand unassisted on a mantle or a shelf for display purposes.

His deco is meant to evoke the G1 toy as closely as possible, with translucent purple parts for his gun-arm and right fist and chest window. (There's a minor color error because the wrist above the right hand should be a translucent piece, but only the fist itself is made of see-through plastic.) The upper legs and feet are painted with a metallic sparkly paint to reflect that these parts were die-cast metal during G1; his other grey parts are a glossy light grey. There's a large Decepticon symbol tampographed on the top of his chest, and the spot where the rub symbol was during G1 (the side of his chest) has a smaller, sideways Decepticon badge (it would have been right-side up if he were in gun mode).

Like other ornaments in the series, Shockwave is not articulated at all. Anybody who tries to move his arms and legs is going to snap them right off. (Even the hose connecting his arm to his backpack is fragile; it's a solid piece of plastic that will not bend at all.) He's technically transformed incorrectly, because on the Hasbro toy the forearms are meant to rotate so that the screws are on the inside of his forearms, and the hose becomes connected to the front of his left forearm. However, he was transformed wrong in the cartoon, too, so there's at least a precedent. (Unlike some previous ornaments, which faithfully reproduced various faux assembly screws, there are no fake screws in evidence on Shockwave. Some of the other more toyetic details are gone, too, like the ON/OFF switch on his backpack.)

I have no idea if anybody else collects these or not. Some people are probably offended by them because (fill in the blank: they're too small, don't transform, aren't poseable, etc.) but I think they're neat. Future characters I wouldn't mind seeing in the assortment, now that they've knocked a lot of the heavy hitters out of the way: Prowl, Blaster, Perceptor, Jetfire, Omega Supreme, Metroplex, Ultra Magnus, Devastator, Laserbeak, Cyclonus, Scourge, and Galvatron.

Zob (will just keep buying these forever, realistically)
