Assembling a big Presto order and see Grand Piano, the piano label (one of 17 such) of Naxos Musical Group, is 'on offer'. Who's got what to recommend? I'll buy 3 or 4. So much unfamiliar repertoire and pianists from which to choose. Thanks in advance!

To answer your question, one needs to understand
what are you looking for. Grand Piano's main focus
is on rediscovering piano works by composers who
are not well known.

More often than not, there are pretty good reasons
why many of these composers are not well known.
One is not very likely to find hidden gems. I would
suggest focusing instead on the better pianists in
their catalogue, as they are more likely to have
recorded the more interesting repertoire.

I was thinking about Catalogue d'oiseaux by Messiaen / Ciro Longobardi | 2019, on Piano Classics. At one time I disliked these pieces, but my interest has been renewed. I hear good things about Longobardi's interpretation. I know this isn't relevant to the special offer at Presto, but close enough for me to mention it.

As a Fennophile, I plan to order the five albums of Selim Palmgren's solo piano music performed by Jouni Somero. Palmgren was active during the first half of the 20th century, and wrote in a romantic Swedish/Finnish style. I have his piano concertos and some of the solo piano music on other labels. Nothing earthshaking, but a general collector might want to have one or two of these.

I have several of Somero's other recordings of Finnish piano music for FC Records. He's made a specialty of exploring that territory.
