While under the spell of Arthur Janov's The Primal Scream book, John Lennon gifted copies of it to others, including comedian Spike Milligan and Who songwriter/guitarist Pete Townshend.

Lennon inscribed Milligan's copy with:

"Dear Spike,

We saw your TV thing -- it was very REAL.
I think this book might 'turn you on' as they say.
Lots of love
John & Yoko
(Lennon)"

While he made the following note in Townshend's copy:

To Pete the Seeker

I think this is the *last trip* -- read this and see if you recognize yourself!
Love from John and Yoko.
I'm in L.A. in the middle of it.
