Lennon's personal assistant during 1979 and 1980, Frederic Seaman, was regularly presented with lists of records and books to purchase.

A list of albums he presented to Seaman consisted of:

"'Hot Stuff' (Donna Summer) singer [*]
LP "The Roches (Warner Bros)
Call James Taylor's record company, say who you are, 'Lenono Msic,' ask for a copy of 'Day Tripper' by J.T. -- singer.
WB"

Meanwhile, Lennon sent a short list of musical recommendations to Ringo, which consisted in:

"'How High the Moon' (with female vocal harmony) disco-natch! -- I know this ain't simple I know

Blondie's 'Heart of Glass' is the type of stuff y'all should do -- great & simple"

-- from The John Lennon Letters

* "Hot Stuff" by Donna Summer was a single from her album Bad Girls.

Thanks for that. These references tell me that John was aware of what was popular at the time and that he was open to it. It would have been interesting if he had striven to sound more contmporary on DF rather than falling back on what he called "Elvis-Orbison."

I've long suspected that John told Yoko about Donna Summer's "Love to Love You, Baby," which includes sexual moaning from the singer --and that this is where Yoko got the idea to masturbate on "Kiss Kiss Kiss."

Frederic Seaman says that he and John would listen to the radio while out driving; and that they visited the occasional club and disco together.

Maybe she told him about it, or they first heard it together. Why would you assume that he told her about it?

Yoko said during the Playboy interview that she never listened to the radio or visited record stores.
