book as a movie "way back" in 2008.

While "Avatar" is a beautiful movie (and James Cameron clearly ripped-off
artist Roger Dean's style) its a shame the plot is a kindergarten-tier version
of "Dances With Wolves In Space".

I wish he had picked up the rights to Kim Stanley Robinson's "Mars" trilogy
and put all that time, money and CGI talent into that.

Seems Roger Dean quite rightly sued Cameron but the lost the case, even though
its obvious that “Avatar” directly copied not only his style but actual paintings.

Heinlein wrote "Starship Troopers" basing it in part on his experiences
of WWII, while "The Forever War" was Haldeman's portrayal of his
military service during the Vietnam War. As you can imagine, the
atmosphere is a bit different.

Haldeman said that he disagreed with Starship Troopers because
it "glorifies war" but added that "it's a very well-crafted
novel and I believe Heinlein was honest with it". [...]
Heinlein wrote a letter to Haldeman, congratulating Haldeman on

I would like to point out that in Heinlein's book, not only does the
society (debatably) model some fascist ideals, the Terra Federation
LITERALLY are fascists: their emblem is the fasces.

the Ax", it's on page 183 of the Ace Books paperback.

Then again, a LITERAL interpretation of the US Senate emblem featuring
fasces would also lead to the same conclusion.
