From all the people working themselves into a low hover, I expected some
kind of woke-fest, but I found it a solidly entertaining movie. There
were some nice action sequences, a lot of oddly engaging dysfunctional
family bonding and a nice fleshing out of Widow's backstory.

SPOILER

However I was not enamored with the post-credit scene that rubbed our noses
in the fact that Widow is dead. We knew that, no need to remind us, and
leaving that out would have ended on a positive note.

I thought it was a typical run-of-the-mill superhero flick that would have been
better as a tv mini-series and been released right after Iron Man 2, when the
Black Widow character was introduced.

Read somewhere that the head of Disney back then wasn't interested in stand
alone female superhero movies and thought they wouldn't make any money but
when Wonder Woman was a hit, they switched gears.

That scene was supposed to set-up Florence Pugh as the next Black Widow
(who will go after Hawkeye) and introduce Julia Louis-Dreyfus' bad gal character
Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine but because of filming delays due to covid,
she first showed up in The Falcon & Winter Solider.
