He's coming up to 92 this year but there isn't much of him on YouTube. Here he is conducting a lively Johann Strauss Polka from a 1975 "Viennese Night" Prom in London's Royal Albert, with the usual bunch of Promming exhibitionists jumping up and down in the arena ...

How wonderful to see young people enjoying themselves, and not a Zimmer frame in sight. Perhaps they should have a similar arena at the Golden Hall of the Viennese Friends of Music - not to be confused with the Chicago Friends of Italian Opera - to lead the clapping in the Radetzky March? No jumping, of course.

I remember having a Brahms cycle conducted by James Loughran on LP. Every repeat was used from memory.
