I do not think this means that crowds of men in peaked caps, baggy blue trousers and bright yellow clogs are throwing stones at Mhr Berensteyn's shop.

I note the observation in this article that "religious Jews" wear special clothes in public: this is rather unfair on members of liberal synagogues whose special clothes may amount to a hat. What the journalist has in mind, presumably, are male members of Charedi or Hasidic communities, who do tend to stand out in a crowd, especially on the Shabbat and other holy days

I rather suspect that the more violent antisemitic actions are coming not from European Netherlanders but from immigrant communities traditionally opposed to Jews in general and the state of Israel in particular. Wearing a shtreimel and curly sideburns while strolling past the local mosque is likely to provoke criticism.

As for the proposed bans on kosher slaughter and the bris ceremony, this is the first I've heard it. Moslems also have similar requirements, and I can't see anyone in their right mind wanting to ban halal or the circumcision of boys.

So I'm sceptical.
