I think it’s a fine DBT actually because it is so dancing, introspective in the dreamy bits and refined and elfin and delicate even in the bouncy bits. Lovely touch and phrasing - shame the recording doesn’t capture the piano well though, I bet she made a gorgeous tone.

She’s a fabulous Bach pianist - that’s how I found her - I really enjoyed her WTC2 and Goldberg Variations. There’s also some Haydn by her, and some Beethoven and Liszt too, but I’m kind of not in the mood for their music at the moment.

Thanks! It's one of the more sympathetic performances of the WTC I know. It isn't on the professional level of Crochet, but it certainly is on the same musical level. JC is an unknown unknown to me, but she's really a pleasure to listen to. With all those super-virtuosos at the age of 13, it's good to hear someone who has taken time to think about the music.

Undeniably so ... Nevertheless, I really like her WTC. I'm quite familiar with these P&Fs and think she adds something to what we already have. It's good to hear someone for whom these pieces are not old hat and too easy.

far more than she "adds". Seriously, this is
below the minimum level of competence
for intermediate music school students.

Compared to the kids at the Cliburn jr. you are right. That doesn't mean it's easier to listen to those kids than to JC. I'm amazed at what they can do, not at what they do. With JC it's the opposite. After following all those competitions I'm getting tired of great techniques. I want to hear some music, even if I have to take into account a certain clumsiness.
