So this is a thing now, I had to watch an episode before I could pass judgement, and it's definitely not for me.

It's aimed at young kids, but without assuming those kids have a basic intelligence, like Rescue Bots did. It's very much like Teen Titans Go, where it's making a lot of noise and motion with very little story.

They used the first series of BotBots so far, and they redesigned the character models completely so their actual BotBot toys that already exist won't be anything close to screen accurate for the tons of kids just discovering them now.

The 2019 Botbots are still showing up at discount chains, and Hasbro announced 3 more waves of BotBot toys this week, after the underperforming wave 5 got wave 6 cancelled in 2020.

I couldn't make it past five minutes. I am glad we no longer live in a world where there is only one show for the franchise at any one time because this is as big a departure from the norm of Transformers storytelling as Beast Wars was when it first aired. But unlike Beast Wars this lacks sophistication and nuance.

Hasbro should be ashamed of such a transparent attempt to market uncreative, gotta collect-it-all garbage to kids. Literally-there's a scene where one gets thrown in the garbage during the time I watched it. Maybe Hasbro is showing some self awareness on a meta level.

I find many of the alt modes interesting. McDonalds was making transforming fast food toys decades ago but not as humanoid as these. I wonder why they put so much effort into the character designs when they aren't going to make any of the toys at a scale that would make screen accuracy possible.
