I'm not a saint myself having "found" a couple of items
randomly in my days if you will ...

But shouldn't they have a rule against going thru people's
things?

Maybe they don't have it since that is illegal anyway on
the Fiji islands :D

Well, people aren't allowed to steal anything from other players so
that puts a limit on what they can do. Also knowledge is power in this
game so knowing someone has an idol (real or fake) can be important in
the game. Something that the producers want to see get spread because
it makes for a more dramatic game.

So while I wouldn't want anyone going through my things I can see why
they producers want it as part of the game.

Okay, interesting. Maybe it isn't illegal to go through
someone's bag say on a café or something? While I see it is
much better than stealing one could easily think of the weird
situation that it might lead to and people raising their
voices pretty quickly if you ever tried it :)
