betrayals brought an end to all that. HOUSE OF GUCCI boasts an A-list
cast, glitters with high-fashion costumes and fabulous sets, and goes on
far longer than necessary. Lady Gaga plays an outsider who married into
the family, and her acting genuinely impresses. (I forsee an Oscar
acting nomination.) Al Pacino doesn't ham it up all that too very much.
And did you know Adam Driver could put a goofy grin on his face? I
didn't know that. He could get an Oscar nom for that grin alone.

Normally I'd have waited to watch this one when it streams, if then, but
I was invited out and my other choice was NFL so sure, I saw HOUSE OF
GUCCI in a theater. I'd say you don't need to do the same, but suit
yourself.

How did Jared Leto do, I was reading an article in Entertainment Weekly
today about how he immerses himself into roles and they compared him
favorably to Daniel Day-Lewis.

I saw one of his for the first time the other night during the free HBO
preview, Mr. Nobody. Had a hard time following it but it was okay, think
Little Big Man meets The Family Man.

I read some review that complained Al Pacino and Jared Leto were chewing
the scenery too much. Personally, I have never walked out of a movie
and thought to myself, I wish Pacino toned it down a little. You don't
cast Pacino for a nuanced performance! And Leto had to keep up with
Pacino! I loved it. And Leto's makeup artist better win an Oscar. If
I you didn't know that was Leto under all that makeup, you'd never
guess. I saw it in the theater, but I think it would be fine to watch
at home.

The film is full of A-list actors who are all on their game. Jared Leto
is terrific playing cousin Paolo who comes across as both amusing and
pathetic. He's unrecognizable under layers of makeup. In real life for a
time he was one of the Gucci top dogs -- chief designer and
vice-president -- and how he tumbled is a big part of the story. One of
my qualms is that Leto plays him as a complete loser, which evidently he
was not.

Yeah if you didn't recognize Leto in a movie I don't think anyone would
hold it against you the way he's been known to dramatically change his
physical appearance so many times, I didn't realize it was so often
until the article went into it.
