Free City bank-teller Ryan Reynolds, dissatisfied with his repetitive,
nondescript daily routine, makes a startling discovery about his place
in the universe. Hip techno-humor, visual f/x, and, of course, a few
morals ultimately ensue. FREE GUY looks good and is smartly written,
with numerous diverting cameos and mise-en-scene ...and exactly as much
engaging suspense as you'd expect. Somewhat recommended.

How is it you have no overt criticisms of it and it's only "somewhat
recommended?"

Well, I didn't mean my "engaging suspense" comment as a ringing
endorsement. But, yeah, I found it well-executed but uninspired.

The review I saw made it sound like it was made to appeal to
millennials. Maybe it's an age bracket thing.

People who for months have been cowering behind their Covid masks (which
I don't oppose) just turned out in droves to watch a tights-clad
superguy narrowly save society/humanity/Earth yet again. (But this time
it was really close.) Yeah, you bet it's an age bracket thing.

Cool, it's fun to agree sometimes. I'm pretty good at disagreements, of
course.

I thought it was terrific fun. I've seen it twice now -- had to show it
