I picked up _Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City_ by KJ Parker on a whim, liked the cover and title, without knowing anything about the author.

The title was somewhat misleading; the book had no more than 5-6 way, and those seemed awfully dependent on the circumstances. So not a practical textbook, but I enjoyed it anyway.

Well, mostly enjoyed it. The ending was major letdown - it felt like he simply ran out of ideas and just turned in the script. It was such a letdown that I'm wary of spending time on another KJ Parker book.

So I'm looking for recommendations.
