I liked McCray's playing pretty well, and I was on pretty friendly terms with him, since he judged for a few local competitions where I accompanied some of the competitors. But of course, I understand he suddenly had to resign in disgrace from SF Conservatory for diddling one too many of his female students, thereby opening up a faculty position which Jon Nakamatsu ended up filling.

I too generally prefer a performance on a piano to a harpsichord, but

One way of looking at is if a recording is on CD it's not forgotten.
Harold Bauer is remembered by APR by reissuing it on 3 CDs, and by
Biddulph, but they are both out of print, so it may be called forgotten.

Nyiregyházi's 2 Columbia LPs have not been on CD.

Henri Barda. Briefly noted a couple of years on rcmr and then
'forgotten' again, at least to the extent that he hasn't been mentioned
anymore, I think. Then again, a palpable lack of recordings may have to
do with it. It seems he didn't make studio recordings and only one cd of
a live recital seems to be available on Spotify (or anywhere else).

This first example seems the most apt: Sylvia Marlowe is not on CD at all.

You can't say that about most of the names already mentioned on this thread.
If they are on CDs, they haven't been forgotten by the record companies,
though record companies often forget to keep their catalog in print.

She can play, of course, but not my style - too wilful and pulls the music about too much for me.

I tried her Prokofiev Sonata 7 and gave up pretty quickly.
