Tegan and Ace will join the 13th Doctor in the special episode
being broadcast this autumn.

The news was revealed in a trailer that followed the show's
Easter special.
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiV8PfupbjY>

The short teaser also revealed that the episode will feature
the Doctor's arch enemy The Master (Sacha Dhawan) and two of
her most famous foes, the Daleks and the Cybermen.

Tegan Jovanka, an Australian air stewardess, appeared on the
BBC One show between 1981 and 1984 as a companion to Tom Baker
and Peter Davison's Doctors.

It's the first time she's been seen on screen in almost 40
years.

She's played by Janet Fielding, who says: "In some ways it was
a very different experience to what it was like when I finished
recording in 1983, but in many ways it was very similar. It was
so lovely to be a working member of the Doctor Who family
again."

Ace was in the TV drama from 1987 to 1989 alongside Sylvester
McCoy's seventh Doctor.

Actress Sophie Aldred says: "It's been quite a challenge to
have such a big secret to keep, even from my family, and
I couldn't be more thrilled and excited to have been asked
back. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I adored being part
of the TARDIS team again."

She was the show's final companion before it went on a 16-year
hiatus. Writer/producer Russell T Davies revived it in 2005
with Christopher Eccleston playing the returning Doctor.

Whittaker, the first woman to play the Doctor, has appeared in
three series of the sci-fi drama. Her first series in 2018 was
one of its most-watched ever.

She announced that she was quitting the role last summer, and
that she would be saying goodbye to the character in three
specials.

Her replacement as the Doctor is expected to be revealed in
the coming weeks.

Not "Debbie Does Dallas" though! Two women in a shower is a
completely different thing Tim!

And not the sort of thing I object to either...

Do you try strangling everyone you get mad at, Tim?

A plot tells the main events of a story, devised and presented by the writer
as an interrelated sequence. For you to have a plot, you need to explain why
the Master, Cybermen and Daleks need to team up, and how they achieve it.
You need to explain how they go back in time. You need to explain how and
why they want to save the dinosaurs. You need to explain if they succeed. If
they don't succeed, how are they stopped?

It's a story only you want, Tim. I'm not going to write it for you. So -
over to you.

She didn’t try to strangle him in ‘Castrovalva’. She didn’t try to strangle
him in ‘Time Flight’. She didn’t try to strangle him in ‘The King’s
Demons’. She didn’t try to strangle him in ‘The Five Doctors’. Why should
she now try to strangle him after a further 40 years have passed?

>> That's not a plot.
>
> What would be a plot in which the villains go back in time to save the dinosaurs?

You would need to explain the motivation. Why are they willing to work
together? How do they go back? How does the Doctor find out? Why do they
want to save the dinosaurs? How will the Doctor stop them? Are there any
unexpected consequences (eg Silurians now sharing the planet openly with
mankind?) Are there any key guest stars and what part do they play? How
does the Master betray his partners and why?

YOU have to determine these points in order to construct a plot. Throwing
one sentence at a page is just the germ of an idea, not a whole one.

No, I was thinking that if some saurians thrived alongside the evolution of
mammals, maybe the Eocene and the apes would learn to live in harmony.

Which would set the Doctor a huge ethical dilemma - should she be acting to
prevent what appears to be a BETTER future from happening?

See? Now you’re getting towards a plot. Way too much fanwank though, cut
down on the number of bad guys so you can give them a clear focus. (I’m
very much afraid there will be tokenism and stupid motivations driving the
clash of too many enemies in the BBC 100 special).

No Tim. I wouldn’t expect even Chibnall to be so stupid as to assign
obvious human distinctions to aliens.

The tokenism would be the token inclusion of one or more of the enemy
groups just to have them there because it’s a special. As happened in The
Five Doctors, for example. And/or, these extraneous enemies might have
stupid motivations or no discernible motivations whatsoever.

That’s why I suggested you not just jumble up a greatest hits collection of
monsters in your plot either. Sometimes, less is more.

Did they need to be there? Did they serve the story? If yes, then they were
just part of the story. If no, they were a token presence. What was the
point of the Cybermen in The Five Doctors? The Dalek in The Wedding of
River Song?

No!! "IT" is called "Information Technology", clown!

Any decent ISP would know about such things, clown!!
