Had Indochina, or at least South Vietnam and Laos (North Vietnam was already Communist ever since 1954), fallen to the Communists early on, either in the mid-1960s or in the late 1960s (for instance, if the US never actually escalates the Vietnam War in 1965), would it have ever actually been plausible for there to be a subsequent Communist attack on Thailand in an attempt to get the Thai Communist Party to seize power there? If so, just what exactly would this have actually realistically taken? This is an Alternate History Challenge/Plausibility Check, for what it's worth.

Also, I'm presuming that in such a scenario the US WILL get militarily involved in order to prevent Thailand from falling to the Communists, correct? After all, it simply won't be able to see Thailand fall to the Communists after both Laos and South Vietnam fell to the Communists, correct?
