There's a comment on youtube which caught my attention about a nocturne

The insight of Nocturne is incredible. Some people could think it’s not ‘classy’, but it’s beyond the ‘classy’. In Nocturne Op55 no1 for example, the left hand accompany is incredible. Why? The contrast of the singing right hand and left hand is normally ignored by ordinary pianists. Chopin’s music has many facets/ emotions/ feelings even in one bar. You could do anything to make the contrast of bass and soprano singings in this Nocturne , and when I heard Maestro Pletnev played this way, I thought, what a genius. It made this Nocturne fuller of colours and the sadness embedded inside was exactly brought out by the seem-to-be lightness of left hand accompany. My God. It’s great! It’s the music version of Unbearable Lightness of Being!!!!!

yes 55#1 in left hand every low bass note should be touched almost staccato and Chopin point it with dot in sheet music

He sure does and he also indicates pedal thru each half-measure.
Pletnev's approach does keep the melody from being too blurry and
preserves the distinction between quarters and halves in the bass.

Actually listening to the op. 55/1 from Verbier last year - I suppose it is pretty similar in conception at least to this year’s at Edinburgh - I think “tear jerky” is wrong, just wrong. And in fact even though embellished, it seems quite natural to me, I don’t have a sense of a musician forcing something which doesn’t quite fit onto the music.

Have to correct sth I said earlier; my favourite Beethoven conductors are: Mengelberg and Celibidache.
