That's the inspiration for the idea, hence the allusion to the mirror universe in the name "Shattered Glass." Good guys are bad and bad guys are good.

If they made a Shattered Glass Scourge without a Goatee…

Just checked, he has a Goatee … and Kup’s colors. And SG Kup has Scourge
colors.

I really think they lost their way on this whole Shattered Glass thing.
There’s nothing thematic about any of it, and it’s more of a confusing mash
of poorly thought out ideas than an interesting reversal of anything. It’s
all ad how with no underlying point other than to be “edgy” and “cool.”

I think the Star Trek Mirror Universe has similar problems, but they have
reigned them in with each iteration, and the characters are better defined,
so it’s usually fun.

I wish that when they were starting out Shattered Glass they had stopped to
consider what qualities the Autobots already have that would make them the
oppressors, and what would make the Decepticons the good guys in that
scenario…

DC has “Injustice: Gods Among Us” with a morally broken Superman as the
main antagonist. I don’t think that’s necessarily the best start, as it’s a
revenge story at its core — but it’s something.

Autobots are the good guys, but G1 cartoon Optimus will lock away Dinobots
because he (clearly erroneously) thinks they are dangerous. There’s a
nugget of something there that with a few tweaks could be interesting.
