"Y: The Last Man" series on FX and Hulu
https://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/y-the-last-man

Every male creature on the planet with a Y chromosome suddenly dies one
day. Except for two, a man and his monkey that he rescued from a
lipstick laboratory.

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Yup, they had that in episode three. Worked until the testosterone ran
out. Of course, they could not father any babies either way.

I'm pretty sure this was a (non-universe) DC comic a few years back.

I did see that mentioned on the tv series website I mentioned before I
got snipped.
https://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/y-the-last-man

"Y: The Last Man is a 60-issue science fiction comic book series
published beginning in 2002. It received three Eisner Awards, and was
nominated for the first Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story for Y: The
Last Man, Volume 10."

There's a New Zealand-made (so that means hopelessly bad) "dark comedy"
along the same lines ...

Creamerie
---------
Eight years after a plague killed all men, three women
who run a dairy farm accidentally run over the last
surviving male human on the planet in this darkly funny,
dystopian series.

The Y chromosome is only one of the ways that animals determine sex. Do they mention whether
there is any effect on birds? Turtles? Crocodilians?

So, if someone was an XYY, did they die twice?

Since the method of death was to vomit all your blood out, I doubt it.

The sky opens up and the author climbs down to smack them around and
trash talk them before they die. Lets not even think about what happens
to the poor XYYY's, that can really turn your stomach.

I read the comic back when it was released and it was a bit silly but
with a fairly good story. I expect in today's climate all the silly bits
will be turned up to 11 and most of the reasonable bits in the story will
be removed.

So all mammals are wiped out except some species of rats and voles. Perhaps this is a prequel to the Michael Swanwick novel in which, millions of years on, Avians are the dominant clade.

Including women with a Y chromosome,

As Pohl told us in "Day Million", written in the mid 60s.

So the dinosaurs will be back. I see potential for a billion-year
rivalry between synapsids and sauropsids, with dominance switching
back and forth every fifty or a hundred million years or so. Let's
call it the Great Amniote Conflict.

Remember, _our clade_ already ruled during the Permian before the
Great Dying paved the way for the dinosaurs to take over.
