Simon Letch has recently been posting some recently-acquired G1 scripts to the Sunbow Marvel Archive, all wonderful pieces of history and a vastly valuable resource.

One particular item of note which I found absolutely fascinating was the idea that Blaster's cassettes were originally scripted to appear in the season two episode "Auto-Bop," prior to The Transformers: the Movie:

https://sunbowmarvelarchive.blogspot.com/2022/07/uncovered-mysteries-first-version-of.html

The duel between Blaster and Soundwave near the end of the episode would have originally featured a standoff between Autobot and Decepticon tapes, and at this stage Blaster's three tapes would have been a robot named Bolts, a scorpion named Stinger, and a tiger named Cubby. These ideas were based on aborted Microman designs that were prototyped by Takara, but ultimately not developed. But, Hasbro had been culling the Takara archives for suitable Transformer designs (Astrotrain, Scramble City, etc.) so it's likely the characters were based on these unproduced cassettes.

What's even more incredible is that there's a cartoon model in existence for Bolts, who looks very much like a prototype version of Rewind/Eject. It's on that page. Go look at it. I never knew any of these characters made it to the artwork stage, so this is, to me, an incredible find.

I do think they made the right decision in saving the reveal of the cassettes for the movie instead of season two. The attack on Blaster's communications tower in the movie would have been far less notable if we'd already seen his tapes in action in a previous episode.

Zob (has always has a soft spot for Rewind, who loves pointless trivia just as much as I do)
