No quote again.
The problem with Forté may be with the news server I use (NewsGroupDirect / NewDemon). I think they went to a slightly different protocal, which Newsbin handles, but Forté just spun its wheels and never donwloaded anything, and of course there is no support for it anymore.

Do they have a support group (well, forum, more likely)?

It might be possible to confirm the problem/find a solution by
consulting it.
