We are grown adults with mortgages, alimony, and child support. We invest in “collectibles,” we don’t buy “toys.” Primus forbid.

And yet, with the announcement of the forthcoming Voyager Bludgeon, I was intrigued enough to pick up the extremely kid-oriented Cyberverse One-Step Bludgeon, especially considering he’s still available for about ten bucks.

He’s awesome. Plays well with Legends-class and Core figures, more or less. A complete brick in robot mode, with elbow articulation and a single spinning wrist. But his transformation is a thing of joy.

Pick up the tank. Gently squeeze the sides. Boom. You’ve got a homicidal psycho samurai robot with automatic flip out feet. He even comes with a little sword for extra ninja action.

Transformers transform. Masterpieces require time and patience. But this little guy? Back and forth in a second. He’s sturdy, colorful, and just a joy to have around. Looks good on a shelf but more fun in hand.

He’s a toy, full stop, and an awesome one. I’m fighting the urge to build a Cyberverse Bludgeon army...
