Which other multiethnic countries could have realistically broken up in a similar mold to Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and--if we go by religion instead of by ethnicity--British India?

Ethiopia and Sudan have broken up.

The Japanese Empire _was_ multi-ethnic and was broken up.

Pakistan was multi-ethnic and broke up.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland was multi-ethnic
and broke up.

Pakistan's division was the most artificial of them all. Two wings divided by thousands of miles of Indian territory and with little to unite them other than their common Sunni Muslim faith.

I wonder what would have happened had an independent Bangladesh been created back in 1947. I mean, other than no bloodshed there in 1970-1971.
