Do you have any toy armies? What do you collect

I used to collect Stormtroopers and have 40+ regular Stormtroopers from the original series plus abut 110 specialists from 1990 to 2013, joined by all manner of clones, drop ships and Arc170s, when I just had to stop,

A little bit ago I got my 9th Sharkticon with representatives from all 6 officially released versions as well as 7 tails.

My armies have spanned all generations, so I have many different configurations for Sweeps and it's questionable which is actually Scourge.

What do you have a lot of? Do successive generations join or supplant previous denizens?

I used to not collect armybuilders. I considered it frivolous and the result of conspicuous consumption. Then I found myself in a much better financial situation and I started armybuilding like crazy. Turns out it wasn't armybuilding I disliked, it was being broke.

Um, I think I have around a dozen Foot Soldiers from the vintage Ninja Turtles line. I used to pick one up here, one there, when I could get them for cheap. I remember getting one around 1994 for like three bucks at a second hand toy shop. You won't see them for those prices now. Everybody is collecting Foot Soldiers so they're at a premium. Like, sixty bucks a pop on average. Suffice to say, I probably won't be collecting too many more.

The vintage Mouser was a gigantic wind-up toy the same of a normal action figure, so it's too big. For a while I was collecting the M.O.U.S.E.R.S. from the 2012 Ninja Turtles reboot whenenver I saw a seven-pack in stores. There were like two black ones in every pack, so they're garbage, but then there were like three grey ones and two dark grey ones, or something like that, so those were really what I was after. I know I have around 100 of them. NECA has also done a seven-pack, and it's very cartoony, but they charge like fifty bucks a pop, so I only bought one of those. I'm not made of money.

Haven't received them yet, but I also ordered four of the NECA Rock Soldier Infantry/Crooked Ninja Turtle Goon 2-packs, because you gotta have Rock Soldiers, and you also need at least four Crooked Ninja Turtles (here's our card, and when you tell the cops, remember the "turtles" part).

I used to gobble up Star Wars Stormtroopers whenever I could. I dislike that they kept modifying the mold, because I've got some CommTech Stormtroopers who seem really scrawny, but then I've got some Vintage Original Trilogy Collection ones, some of which have helmets on ball joints and some of which have removable helmets and look like Temuera Morrison underneath. I don't know exactly how many I have, but 30-40 seems like an accurate ballpark figure. I also have groups of Snowtroopers, Biker Scouts (I refuse to call them Scout Troopers), Sandtroopers, and Battle Droids (both the tan and red variety). Oh, and Jawas. I have quite a few Jawas. I have no interest in Clone Troopers.

A number of years ago, Jakks-Pacific had a really great Smurfs toy line. I collected the characters I knew from the Hanna-Barbera cartoon, mostly. Now, canonically there are 100-ish Smurfs but only about thirty or forty named characters in the show, so that means a lot of unnamed generic Smurfs. For a while there, Target was selling generic Smurfs named "Smurf" in baggies in their dollar section. I discovered them much too late and I was only able to grab about six of them. I still see them on eBay, and I'll usually nibble if I can get one for three or four bucks. I'm not sure how many Smurfs I have now, but I haven't reached 100 yet.

For vintage Transformers, I have a bunch of Insecticon clones in varying condition, like three Sweeps, and three Sharkticons (but they're unlicensed Zhong Jin knockoffs so I don't know if they count). Ideally, I would like one more Cyclonus for my G1 shelf, but I haven't gotten him yet.

I have a bunch of Titans Return Scourge toys, but I really wish I'd held off because I like the Studio Series version a lot better. I bought a lot of those. Perhaps eight. I have a bunch of Studio Series Gnaw toys as well. I got four of the Quintesson Judge from Earthrise. I will be building a small contingent of Deluxe-scale Insecticons as well. Got the Kickbacks I need, so now just waiting for Shrapnel and Bombshell to get released.

Armybuilders I would probably buy a lot of, if they existed: Decepticon cars from "Make Tracks," Acolytes of Unicron from Marvel Comics issue #74.

Zob (there are some third-party Kremzeeks in multiple colors on eBay that I keep thinking about getting, too)

I, too, collect sharkticons from different lines whenever they pop up. As far as multiples of the exact same toy, the original three Insecticons and the Jumpstarters tend to be over represented in my collection. And for some reason I have ended up with a lot of Gears. Gears was my first minicar and second Transformer ever so I wonder if its a subconscious thing or I'm just that one guy who random chance has picked to find dirt cheap Gears toys everywhere.

I have 8-12 BM Scavengers. I love him, with his little chrome claws that
can hold a limb from Optimus Minor. I used to have a display of OpMinor
being assaulted by Scavengers.

Plus the usual Sharkticons, Scourges, etc.

And three TF:PrimeRID Scorponoks — two purple, one brown. I have a fondness
for assigning a character two identical guards. I follow that pattern a lot
when there are redecos of toys I like, even if the fiction doesn’t support
it. It looks good.

Similarly, 4 PotP Blots, and then 4 Twinstrikes, so Hung-Grr can go out
with matching limbs. I kind of decided that Hung-Grr had a litter of
Twinstrikes… (I suspect Weirdwolf had something to do with this)

I seem to play house with my Transformers.

And a litter of Movieverse Legends Ravage toys to be kittens for the
deluxe.

And a TF:PrimeRID Warrior class Grimlock leading a bunch of the Legends
class ones around like a moth duck and ducklings.

Did you notice how well Coronation Starscream’s cape matches the
Sharkticons? I did… and that leaves him with a bunch of guards and I have a
few vague ideas of how that could work storywise.

But mostly, I will buy a toy in every single color scheme. So I have a pack
of Leobreaker, Nemesis Breaker, Razorclaw, Leo Prime (red) and Leo Prime
(white), and I assure you that if they brought that mold back and
inexplicably gave it constructicon colors (lime green with purple mane) I
would buy it again.

And a mixed faction squadron of BM Deluxe Jetstorm toys of various colors.
Was Stormjet a traitor?

Because the original Transformer army was identical design, different
colors.

I bought the BPF KO of PoTP Grimlock, and surprisingly really liked him.
So I got the original.
Then I got the oversized BMB KO in red.
Figured I didn't need the oversized KO in the original colors.
Held out for a while.
Then got him.

Why my attachment to versions of a mold most fans consider mediocre at best? I can't say. But now SS86 Grimlock has a little clone army by his side...
