Takahiro Miki's 2021 movie of Robert Heinlein's novel
_The Door into Summer_ is now available on Netflix.
Elisabeth Vincentelli gives it a favorable review in
the arts section of today's _New York Times_.

From a Google search the protagonist is the inventor
of a humanoid robot rather than the Roomba-like
device described in the book.

It is longer than 90 minutes, that is always a good sign.
https://www.netflix.com/title/81517003

Ah, the book was inspired by Heinlein's cat !
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Door_into_Summer

"When we were living in Colorado there was snowfall. Our cat — I'm a cat
man — wanted to get out of the house so I opened a door for him but he
wouldn't leave. Just kept on crying. He'd seen snow before and I
couldn't understand it. I kept opening other doors for him and he still
wouldn't leave. Then Ginny said, 'Oh, he's looking for a door into
summer.' I threw up my hands, told her not to say another word, and
wrote the novel The Door Into Summer in 13 days.[3]"

The trailer is in Japanese. My Japanese really sucks. I suspect the
movie will be dubbed.

I'm not sure about that. The Hired Girl Mark One did nothing but
sweep floors. Heinlein, IIRC, said nothing about what it was
shaped like, except for its having a tray on top into which it
would deposit anything larger than a pea, so that the housewife
could decide what (if anything) to keep.

Looks as if. I can't get at my copy for the usual feline
reasons, but I'm pretty sure Pete was your standard marmalade

Rather surprising, considering Japan's generally tolerant
attitude towards nudity. Perhaps the producers were hoping to
sell to the US market?

To do suffient damage to her, he would have had to be the size of
a full-grown tiger with the ferocity of a black-footed cat.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black-footed_cat

So small, so pretty, so ferocious; it catches more prey per
attempt than any other carnivore.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl8o9PsJPAQ

OTOH what wound up happening to Belle was even more appropriate.

It's definitely the champion for felines.
I think overall dragonflies are #1 and a particular seahorse is #2

I did a Google search, and apparently I was mistaken, as I
couldn't find the news item I thought I had read, and Wikipedia
has no mention of any change.

I can't find an ee cummings usage either, but archy is referencing
"The Landing of the Pilgrim Fathers in New England"
by Felicia Dorothea Hemans (1793–1835)

https://www.bartleby.com/371/383.html

First verse:
"The breaking waves dashed high
On a stern and rockbound coast,
And the woods against a stormy sky
Their giant branches tossed"

FWIW, I'm not sure I'd describe the coast around Plymouth MA,
'stern and rockbound', and Plymouth bay is well sheltered by
natural sandbars, so the waves don't do much dashing.
