A Desolation Called Peace (Teixcalaan, volume 2) by Arkady Martine

https://jamesdavisnicoll.com/review/howling

In which the consequences of instigating a war between a human empire
and voracious, enigmatic aliens are explored. Spoiler: the empire does
a lot better than Putin is currently doing.

I don't recall the Teixcalaan doing much "instigating" there.

Putin has backed his troops up and is using his artillery to turn
Ukraine into rubble. 155 mm howitzers (or the Russian equivalent) are
fairly effective at such.

And meanwhile Ukraine is figuring out how to liberate those 155s. Oh,
and I understand that they've been sent Firefinder or one of its
descendants. Given the general lack of competence they have
exhibited, I suspect that the ones that don't get liberated will be
destroyed.

That site is one of the few giving objective, evidence backed numbers for equipment losses on
both sides. It relies on photos of each destroyed or captured piece.

While it certainly misses pieces - not all destroyed equipment gets a photo published, and most
photos come from the Ukrainian side - it does set a pretty reliable floor on the number of losses.
