I know this is no more Science Fiction than any other plans for fusion, but the idea just strikes me as cool, partly because we do have some experience of accelerating projectiles to very high speeds.

Fusion to me is most interesting in the way it's used in
journalism to hint at a metaphor. I bring the same perspective
to accounts that I bring to accounts of flying saucers.
