I have read "The City And The Stars" and "The Ophiuchi Hotline". Both

I'm glad to say you have a bunch of good novels in your future, then. Note
that while Wikipedia claims _Sky Object 3270a_ is a standalone, it is actually
part of the Nanotech Succession series and comes after _Vast_.

If you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much
more like prunes than rhubarb does.

In 2016 I read _First Light_ and have now forgotten it. My note at the
time was: "Mediocre with some interesting technology but struggled to
read and stopped at 80%."
I had reread _Pride and Prejudice" beforehand which may have influenced
my judgement.

I struggled with /Pride and Prejudice/, but that was 'way back in High
School.

The instructor was appalled. He thought the writing style would make
it worth reading.

But then, he once assured us that, if you knew Latin, you could speak
Italian by just adding an "o" to the end of each word.

And waving your arms around a lot.
