When I was 10 years old I was more interested in dinosaurs than boobs.

Well. <http://ffn.nodwick.com/?p=265>

The word "breasts" appears; actual breasts don't
appear, but who knows what the background
represents......

Try harder.

While it's possible Putin could go all 'Apres moi, le deluge', and order
the use of nukes in contradiction to published doctrine, I doubt he
would, and if he tried, this is one area where he'd get a lot of pushback,
and flat out mutiny. He, and everyone in the chain of command, are
perfectly aware that going nuclear would probably mean the end of Russia.

Publicly announced nuclear doctrines are important. There are no
winners in nuclear wars, but given that the weapons exist, having clarity
over when a country might use them is good for everyone, on both sides.

The USSR used to have a no first use policy. Russia dropped that when
their conventional forces became weak, but the conditions still require a
real existential threat to the survival of the Russian nation

No actions the could defeat the Russian invasion of Ukraine rise to that level.

If you really think he'll destroy Russia over this, show your reasoning and
evidence.

Hmm... that would apply to lots and lots of gals... Gorgons. Lamia. Female
nagas. Probably more.

And while we’re at it... exactly where _do_ female werewolves, minotaurs,
etc., keep their mammary glands? And how many pairs? And exactly how many
pieces will you get torn/trampled into if you refer to them as
bitches/heifers?

I dunno - the only place most people see such creatures would be
around a D&D table....

Not having any kids, I easily avoided it . Rumor has it that
it made "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians" look good by
comparison.

The Swamp Thing got two films and 3 TV series:
2 live-action and 1 animated. Solomon Grundy
has been in everything from "The Superfriends"
to "Stargirl," but never was the lead.

Nobody seems to ever have filmed Sturgeon's "It!"

Thank you. Actually, I didn't make the connection to Gulliver until a
year or two after I started referring to him that way.

In an interview, Miyazaki apologizes to Spanish-speakers for borrowing
"Laputa" (in /Castle in the Sky/) from Swift, being unaware of the
meaning of "la puta" in Spanish when he did it.

Sadly, no. It is lost in the whirlwind of time. Or, more accurately,
the confusion of the Microsoft News thingy, which appears to have a
policy of never showing a story you have read and want to find again.

>Certainly the Russians have complained about air attacks inside Russia.
>But I'm unaware of any confirmed attacks.

>Attacks very possibly exist. But the word _confirmed_ was emphasized.

That they complained is enough.

If attacking inside Russia was enought to trigger a nuclear response,
they would have done so when they made the complaints.

It doesn't have to be "confirmed".

So, no, attacking Russia will /not/ automatically produce a nuclear
response. At least, as long as NATO isn't doing it.

But ... but ... Putin would regard any threat to his re-election (he
does get re-elected every so often) as an existential threat to
Russia. "L'etat, c'est moi" (in no-doubt severely fractured French) is
his motto.

Kind of like Trump and not winning in 2020, but worse.

I'll be more blunt - I think you are misremembering the article.
There have been no confirmed air attacks on Russian territory.

Not enough for what you claimed (that there was a confirmed attack).
You trust Russian propaganda?

produced nuclear war, you are /weakening/ your position, since a
maskirovka cannot be confirmed?

You are confused. I don't have a position on this particular topic,
just noting a curious possible juxtaposition of current events with a fictional
depiction.

And, since it has apparently been quite a while since you read it,
