I mentioned _When Worlds Collide_ (& by implication _After Worlds Collide_)
here a week or so ago. I must have looked it up on Amazon when I did so,
as they shot me a "You May Like" email today.

Apparently there are no estates for Wylie & Balmer, or at the least, they
didn't take out any trademarks, because it turns out there are a number
of new-ish sequels to the books. One sounds dreadful, and the other
sequence sounds ok-ish:

According to <http://www.publicdomainsherpa.com/copyright-duration2.html>
(whose "calculator" evidently demanded Adobe Flash software,
which is gone), a book of 1933 with copyright renewed -
and correctly indicated in the first place - is protected for
95 years, so until 2028.

I know we are now starting to get books from the 1920s,
like _The World Crisis_. Of course a lot of SF ws presumed empherial
and never correctly renewed, so there is a surprising amount already
on Gutenberg, of stuff long postdating that period.

The last of the Sherlock Holmes stories should go PD next Jan.

I was under the impression that the only Sherlock Holmes still
under copyright was the arrangement of a particular collection (the
stories therein were already public domain).
