Remember Michael Scott Rohan's _Spiral_ series (_Chase the Morning_
et seq.), where the similarity between seascapes and cloudscapes
was highly significant?

I'm... open to believing that that isn't "photoshopped".
But only after looking for comment at Snopes.com ...

Don' need no Snopes. It's obviously fake. That's not to deny
the seemingly more frequent occurrence of odd-looking patterns in
high-altitude clouds as seen from the ground here in the Washington
D.C. area. But that's a topic for another thread sometime.

More comments on the image. You know right away that it's a
composite image because with respect to the middle of the
image you know what looking down on a field
of cumulus clouds looks like from an airplane /or/ you've looked
down often enough on surf from an elevated vantage point.
Either experience is discordant to the ground-bound viewpoint of
the landscape at the bottom.

Whether the middle section is clouds, water or state-of-the-art
CGI is indeed the issue. Mathematically they're all the same.
This is why Jackson Pollock's abstractions are really quite
profound. They press the buttons in the brain that say "this is
nature" while being content-free.
