I thought it was a fascinating fictional take on the true story of the
schoolteacher who started a relationship with her sixth grade student, had
a baby in prison, and ended up marrying him. Natalie Portman plays an
actress who is preparing to portray the woman in a film, and Julianne Moore
plays the woman herself, who is allowing Natalie into her home to interview
her now grown husband, their children, and everybody else involved. In a
movie full of repressed people it’s hard to decide just who is most messed
up in the head. They are all crazy and as much as I may have wanted to at
times, I couldn’t look away.
