This is from the Facebook page of an independently operated movie
theater in my hometown.

They're actually pretty reasonable compared to the national chains. The
food and drink prices are pretty steep (you could buy 2 2-liter bottles
of Coke for $4), I guess that's where a big chunk of their income comes
from.

Showing Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday (only)

Admission (7:15 and 9:15 showings):
Adults $8.00
Children (3-11 yrs.) $6.00
Senior Citizens (60 & up) $6.00
2:10 Matinee (Everyone) $6.00

Snack menu:
Soft Drinks $4.00 $5.00 $6.00
Bottled Water $3.00
Popcorn Plain or Buttered $4.00 $5.00 $6.00
Candy $4.00
Nachos $5.00
Extra Cheese $3.00
Pickles $2.00
Tax Included

Now playing:
The Beekeeper
Argylle
Mean Girls Musical
Wonka
Migration

I used to go to an indoor movie theater almost once a week - usually
on Sunday evening. Now, I can't even remember the last time I was in one.
I have so many cable and streaming channels that the content is just
about overwhelming. And if a new "super hit movie" comes out, just
wait a couple of weeks and it will be on cable. Not to mention the
benefit of avoiding crowds and the ridiculously high priced food and drinks..
I'm just amazed these indoor movie theaters are still in business.

I never really went to the cinema that much. The last movie I saw in
the cinema was probably "Star Wars Episode I". After that haven't
bothered and either bought the DVD (mainly for the Star Wars and
Indiana Jones movies) or watched the movies when they eventually get to
free-to-air TV.

I always went during the weekday sessions when it was much quieter,
often usually just me and a couple of other peple there. I never bought
anything from the snack counter and only once or twice bothered to take
in some confectionery that I bought at the supermarket.

The ticket prices, like everything else, these days are ridiculous.
Here in New Zealand you can get cheaper tickets in different ways,
including Automobile Association members getting somthing like a 40%
discount. Vodfone NZ customers used to be able to get a movie ticket
discount too, but I don't know if they still can now that the company
has been bought by someone else and named-changed to "One NZ".
