Tim, I was going to answer your question by suggesting that the Aliens
*aren't* Vampires, they are Aliens.

But, then, reading your last point had me wondering further about that
but, maybe, Amy's 'reflected sunlight' may have been a bit more focused
than normal sunlight so of greater intensity, maybe!
