Thanks for clarifying. :)

Going by the (in my never humble opinion) schmaltzy Mary Sue TV series,
it's got nothing to do with what I am looking for. (First season still
had me giggle, IIRC, but I stopped watching the second season when it
just got too terrible to even laugh at.)

I really like that Internet Archive which James Nicoll linked. Went
looking for something longer than half-hour episodes, and swerved round
to Miss Marple stories. :))

Pointers to something like that, preferably with supernatural elements,
or Lovecraftian/Cthulhu Mythos still welcome!

See, I liked the short stuff because it happened the average X Minus One
episode was just as long as my average bus trip.

The Thin Man movie was adapted to radio for some reason, and is on the
archive somewhere.

Makes perfect sense.

And those links are certainly not wasted! I listened into one or two
each so far, and only then went looking for something longer. :) I'll
get back to the short ones sooner or later.

41 hits for The Thin Man title and audio media. Looking for more info, I
find that the characters might be drinking a bit too much for my taste.
:)

I'm surprised though that not more books like the Rivers of London
series and the Dirk Gently stories surfaced among the collective rasfw
memory.

So dark fantasy books about vampires and werewolves are now military sf
? Really ?

I have been thinking about rereading my John Ringo zombie books and
posting them here. I may just do that to annoy you.

Not many people would dare to write anything /like/
those. But Ben Aaronovitch vouches for Paul Cornell's
"Shadow Police" series in a London setting -
_London Falling_ is the first.

Ben cheers for another friend's work

All that I myself can say is, that's a "cute" title!

No one dares write detective stories with supernatural elements? Hm.
Does no one want to read such?

Looking for some info, it sounds interesting!

Sadly, both links for the online library don't show audiobooks by that
author. :/

Tried to find more info, as there is no mention of a supernatural
element, and failed. Is there a supernatural element?

Mind, library failed me here, too.

Sounds very interesting!

Library again lets me down.

Now I'm grumpy. ;P

Thanks for the pointers, though!

From watching all the making-of documentaries and commentaries on the
DVD sets, I got the impression that Sean Astin was kind of a pain in
the ass to work with. They mention a couple times that while filming
the scene where the hobbits reach the gates of Mordor, when Gollum
tries to pull Frodo and Sam back out of sight Andy Serkis accidentally
pulled Astin's wig off, causing Astin to storm off the set in a snit.

In general I got the feeling that Astin thought he was in charge (to
the point where he was trying to direct helicopters where to land) and
Peter Jackson and the other actors just kind of put up with him.

Presumably? His mother was Canadian. His paternal grandmother was
British. And "Musk" is not a Dutch name.

And the TV series drifted away from the books as they tend to do.
