Title should have been Eversion, not Eversions.
And to confuse matters further the protagonist, a doctor, is sniffing opium.

Brilliant. The final explanation was a little tedious, reminiscent of an
Agatha Christie thriller but the ending was also brilliant. Highly
recommended.
