I think that, at some point, they'll start doing updated versions of all those toys. Not sure if they'll produce G2 Go-Bots who get a redeco as the RiD Spychangers, or if they come at it from the other way around, but it would be difficult to produce one group without considering the other group.

We're already getting a new Shadow Striker, so doing a Sideburn remold/redeco seems like a no-brainer. From there, it wouldn't surprise me if Robots in Disguise character updates start to slowly trickle out.

Zob (in the meantime, there's always the Subscription Service version of Nightracer from 2015, if you have several hundred dollars you can't think of anything to do with...)

It's been a few years since PotPrimal,

We've gotten a bunch of Japanese characters for series that haven't ever been officially brought to the US, so there's not really a coherent unifying theory as much as they like to claim there is.

Apelinq and Cryotek are easy redecos of Primal and Megatron, we've already gotten scorpion Sandstorm

CatSCAN would be easy, and obscure but funny

I wonder if my oversize KO Cryotek from 1999 is worth anything now

Other than the rebroadcast of Beast Wars in Japan (and accompanying show-accurate recolors of the Kingdom molds), there hasn't been much in the way of revival efforts to sync with the release of ROTB. I'd have expected more to stimulate the nostalgia of the general public. It seems, for example, that now would have been the best time for the Walmart Vintage BW releases.

There should be vintage Beast Wars EVERYTHING in stores right now to capitalize off the success of the movie. T-shirts, hats ("you can't watch a Beastht Warsth movie without a Beastht Warsth ball cap!"—Daffy Duck, probably), posters, the works. The vintage Beast Wars reissues performed poorly at retail, and in retrospect they came a bit too early.

He's a shoe-in as a redeco if we ever get a new Transmetal Primal. It makes sense to pay homage to the existing heritage redeco characters. And Transmetal Megatron will, I suppose, become *gulp* Armada Predacon. What an ugly toy that was.

I saw a post on one of the boards that proposed that Hasbro was playing 4D chess; using Vintage BW releases and the Kingdom cartoon/toyline to seed interest in Beast Transformers, and reawaken the nostalgia in the general audience that would increase the box office success of ROTB.

I don't know whether that's true, but if they were truly trying to both increase interest in as well as capitalize upon the marketing push for ROTB, you're absolutely right that they should have done much, much more.

That said, I wasn't overly impressed with the marketing push for ROTB in general. They waited until the last minute to drop seemingly hundreds of teasers with little variation. Nothing to indicate that this was the long-awaited return of the Transformers, and the debut of the Maximals. Their big Super Bowl ad was a brief Mirage vignette to promote the Porsche partnership. They barely promoted the fact that the bots were voiced by some of the biggest names in entertainment (the breakout star of Game of Thrones, Peter Dinklage, the recent Oscar-winner, Michelle Yeoh, the ubiquitous and bafflingly super-popular Pete Davidson, and the YouTube star Liza Koshy). The theme song ended up being a disappointingly sub-par confection of cliches (did we really need to hear about "hoes" in a Transformers theme?), despite featuring one of the legends of the rap genre, Nas.

Ultimately, it felt like there was very little to indicate to a non-TF fan that this was anything more than just another forgettable entry in the increasingly fatigued and fatiguing Bay style. Also, having learned nothing from the James Gunn/DCEU debacle (TLDR - Gunn announced a reboot to the DCEU, meaning the remaining releases on the schedule no longer "count" in continuity, potentially hurting the box office numbers for Flash, and the upcoming releases of Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2), ROTB's director and producer openly clashed on whether or not the film was a reboot, or remained in-continuity with the Bay films.

Ugly, but durable. I haven't touched my TM Megatron since 1998, and I'm afraid if I do, it'll crumble into a pile of Starscream dust.
