Dilbert: Teenage Consultant

Scott Adams went there. I suspect that a few more newspapers will drop
him. Or not, I wonder how many are left.

I don't see that as big concern for papers. Of course, all the Lee
Enterprise papers dropped at least the Sunday strip as part of the
recent move to regularize the comics lineup.

I don't why that one didn't make the cut. Only Andrews McMeel syndicate
strips made it, which Dilbert is one, but it might have been cost.

Given Adams' other political screeds, I can't help but wonder if it's
a dig at Greta Thunberg. Rather more subtle than usual for him, but
if the woke crowd decides that's what it is, yeah, there will be . .
.. trouble.

I think it pretty clearly is. However, the general concept is good.
"Sally Forth" author Ces Marciuliano did an amusing series of
"Teenage Girl President" strips on his own website some years back.
(Though his art shows why he gets hired to *write* strips).

Oh, hmm. Yeah, maybe. It hadn't occurred to me and I don't know how
many reading the comics will think of that either. She hasn't been in
the news much lately.

The joke went completely over my head. I was looking for something of
the which/witch kind, but "network" didn't seem to have any sexist
implications.

Whether or not Adams intends it that way doesn't really matter. Only
whether or not the woke crowd decides he means it that way, since
they obviously know more about what he means than he does (just ask
them).

I didn't think of it, but I recognise the congruence, and
specifically if this is when Scott Adams promised to
publish something career-endingly "controversial".

Fox possibly recently ran special coverage of Year Five
of The Thunberg Threat, but there I am absolutely
speculating. She's 19 now, by the way.

I quite like her.

I don't think anybody here who has seen the strip fails to understand
that the teenage girl in question was directly based on Thunberg.

Adams is a social satirist and that strip was pure satire.

If Thunberg and friends don't LIKE biting satire they certainly
wouldn't be the first who disliked being on the receiving end of it.

People who can't take being made fun of should put some effort into
not being so *easy* to make fun of.

For instance, people who insist that "the science is settled" on
climate change should, perhaps, choose someone other than a child
who doesn't even have a high school diploma to be their public
face.

Nope, still don't see it, it's just a teenager being a teenager to me.

Projecting it to be a specific teenager who you (and I) have never met
is a looong stretch.

Now, if he'd put her /accent/ into the scream...

The internet is full of "How Dare You" memes featuring her. It's she.

Now there's something I can agree with. Neil deGrasse Tyson comes
to mind as a good choice.

However, I was not invited to the meeting of the global warming
cabal where Greta Thunberg was chosen to be its public face.

I think that one cause of that is that there never was such a
meeting. Greta Thunberg *chose herself* - she went forwards to
add her voice to those of others speaking out against global
warming. That she has captured the imaginations of many
young people is only to her credit.

"Full"????

Maybe your corner of it is.

Perhaps it's that having a teenager in the house reduces my awareness of
this sort of dreck.

You don't need memes. You just need a pulse and elementary level of attention to
the news. Thunberg used the line when addressing the entire UN Assembly a few
years ago. It was not an obscure event.

That's what you choose to see. A more comprehensive description
would be "a teenager being a teenager and *a bunch of adults taking
her seriously on a subject she cna't possibly have any expertise
in*." It's far more a comment on the doomcrying eviro-whackos than
on Thunberg. She's just a tool, so far as I can tell, oblivious to
how she's being used.

That, or being a clueless moron too busy drinking his Kool-Aid to
pay attention to anything he's not told to.

Note: This is actually the first time I've actually seen the meme,
or seen the exact quote. I got the reference just from the "adults
taking a child seriously on a subject she can't possbily know
anything about" part. It was pretty obvious to me.

I guess I'm just that much smarter than you.

I can't take Neil theAss Tyson seriously on much of anything, after
the anti-Catholic hatchet job he did on the Cosmos "reboot."

Which is why they can't be taken seriously. They chose a *child*
who *cannot* possibly have any expertise in the subject to be their
public face. They *chose* to look like idiots.

If you want to convince people of science, you need to use people
who at least appear to have some expertise in the subject. Not some
idiot kid who is clearly too clueless to know what a shock puppet
she is.

Can you name a single actual expert in the field who has pointed

condemned the press for taking her seriously? Neither can I. Or
anyone else.

Sept 22, 2022 article (before this comic)
https://www.thedailybeast.com/dilbert-comic-dropped-by-nearly-80-newspapers

"Satirical office comic strip “Dilbert” has been dropped by almost 80
newspapers, its creator said this week. Scott Adams, who has been
writing and illustrating the beloved cartoon since 1989, announced the
brutal cut on social media. “Dilbert was cancelled in 77 newspapers this
week,” Adams tweeted, later adding that “one large chain” was
responsible for the move. It appears that the cartoon has been caught up
in wider changes being made by Lee Enterprises, which is said to be
scaling back cartoon pages from its publications. Some have suggested
that the cuts to the strip could have to do with Adams’ political
views—but Adams himself has lampooned the idea. Sharing a link to an
article headlined “Was Dilbert ‘Cancelled’ as Comic Creator Scott Adams
Suggests?” Adams tweeted Wednesday: “All fake news here but funny.”"

Perhaps there are a few donkeys in the field, (and I am not saying that
I'm NOT thinking of Fourbricks and Dimwire), who could mistake a hole in
the ground with long ears from an ass be it their ass or not, but are
you not slightly dramatising like some accuse trainee politician Greta T
of doing?
Imagine heading to Iceland for a winter suntan in your bikini, Jibini.
