Was the bank run in her original book, or was it only in the
Disney film?

Heck you could make the same argument about the Occitan region. Or
MAYBE England should demand back the portion of France she held during
the Plantagenet era? "Natural borders" are in the eye of the beholder
and almost never subject to consensus.

Pretty much every country has formerly occupied larger or smaller
borders than they now do so if all claims were to be warranted we'd
need 4 or 5 Earths to accommodate everybody's claim.

With all due respect none of that is unique to America. Many Europeans
believe the Great Depression started from an Austrian bank failure
that brought down other banks in a chain reaction including those in
New York City.

Certainly that belief was front and center in the minds of American
legislators in the 2008 crisis. Anybody need the phrase "too big to
fail" explained?

It's a 6 volume series. I don't think there's a bank run in the first
book, but I read it around 50 years ago, and have not read the others.

And "It's a Wonderful Life" isn't?

I read at least four of them in the mid-1960s. It took a while for my
grade school librarian to get me past "Euch! Read a story about a girl?
Nuh-uh!" But, I don't really remember any details, either.

As memory of my one viewing (one was quite enough, thank you!) of
/It's a Wonderful Life/ slowly returns, I find I must concede the
point: both would be on topic (as fantasy) if they were not movies.

Not so long as the explanation is: this is a 1%-er and we can't let
him lose any money.
