Spanish best selling author Carlos Ruiz Zafon has a series, _Cemetery of
Forgotten Books_ beginning with Shadow of the Wind which I preferred to
The Angels Game which was also a compelling read. I have not yet begun
the third.
The thread subject immediately brought to mind, The Devil and Billy
Markham a poem/song. I have the Bobby Bare version which is on YouTube.
Whilst it is really funny, it is also threateningly scary.

I have an anthology called "100 Great fantasy short short stories" of which quite a few are based on the traditional western supernatural. Buried in there I think (I just failed to find it quickly) is a story of somebody who sold his soul and is thinking back over his life shortly before the time agreed in the bargain expires. He realises that he never got round to doing anything really extravagant or even hurtful. Despite this lack of drive he has had a successful and fulfilling life, if in a relatively modest way. He knows that his wife and children will miss him now that his time is up. It is just a shame that now he has to.... And then the other party to the bargain appears. After a short discussion about his future fate which he finds remarkably reassuring we get to the spoiler.

You didn't think the Devil was the only buyer in the market for souls, did you?

Actually the last line is "I am not a demon, nor is this Hell." - Your Soul Comes COD, by Mack Reynolds. Four pages, well worth a reread.

In high school German class, we read some version (Marlowe's?) of Faust. The one thing I remember was at the ending a sentence translated into "His (Faust) brain clung to the wall". I think there are some versions with happier endings.

I don't suppose that Christopher Marlowe bothered to
write in German, but there was this.

I can think of one, Hellbound Train. I always liked that one.

Not exactly a "deal with the devil", but Convergent Series by Nivin is
similar.
