Per Nextdoor, it appears that our wild (and former pet) bunny
population has been greatly reduced, and the number of
coyotes/bobcats/perhaps others that eat bunnies has increased and now
they are looking at cats and small dogs as alternatives. This in an
/urban/ environment, you understand.

When I came to that web site, I saw an advertisement with the
text:

Speak French? Move to a welcoming Francophone community
and feel at home!

This was an ad from the government of my country, aimed at
prospective immigrants.

Since it's Punjabi, and not French, that is spoken where people
wear turbans and the _kirpan_, the religious symbols law is not
really something that falsifies that advertisement...

But black Montealers are reporting difficulties with the Surete
du Quebec, and many of the French-speaking people outside of
Canada who are considering a change of residence _are_ black,
there are _other_ reasons to question how true it is.

AFAIK, metropolitan France has similar problems.

And has had them for generations.

Back when I was 10 courses shy of my BA, out of school and trying to
scrape together enough cash to re-enroll, I had a gig ushering concerts at
the local repertoire movie palace. The night the Pretenders discovered the
Violent Femmes I met a cute economics undergrad also at the theater to
work the show. Flirting, I told her it could never work between us, she being
a Keynesian and I admiring the Austrian School.

We did manage to last six months.
