I was watching the opening credits to Destination Moon, and I noticed the name "Rip van Ronkel" turn up.

I thought that was an obvious pseudonym, so I searched with Google, and was expecting to find that someone like Dalton Trumbo was helping to script the film. Instead, I found that Alford van Ronkel was a real person - but because of his surname, he had the nickname "Rip".
