Here's something that actually came up in a discussion from one of my posts here, I finally reviewed Cherry 2000. It's probably one of the earlier treatments of a purpose-built pleasure bot on screen. Unfortunately, it's also a textbook case of wasting a good idea along with talent and money. Bonus fact, by my calculations, it's theatrical release earned less than 0.2% of its budget, though it's pretty clear the distributor just dumped it.

Maltin's 2011 mass-market edition gave it 2 1/2 stars. And compared it
to /Mad Max/. "Better than its limited distribution might suggest".

But, of course, tastes differ.

IMDb 5.5, consistent with Maltin, but no indication of streamability.

Amazon has it for rent -- added to The List! Thanks! Oh, and those who
have rented (or bought it on disc, given Amazon's tendency to
consolidate ratings and reviews) gave it 4.5/5. But perhaps these are
fans.

Netflix has it not. I didn't check the with-commercials streamers.

Streaming has gotten so out of control, that I have an app that tells
me what is on where ("JustWatch").

It's on Apple, Amazon, YT, and Vudu, all for $3.99.
Its also on the ad supported streamers Tubi and Pluto.

JustWatch sounds great -- but when I try to get it from the Microsoft
Store, I am told that I "own it".

Sadly, I cannot find it listed anywhere as an App. Or even a program.

OTOH, it only lists certain Xbox variants as "available on". So I own
it, but it is not available.

Typical.

Oh, well.

The program's own website claims it won't run because I have
Javascript disabled.

I'm not sure I do but, if I do, its for a good reason. And I'm not
interested in relaxing what is presumably part of my security.

App -- something I can actually download and use
Nothingburger -- something that claims to be an App but somehow will
not, will not, WILL NOT make itself available on my computer

But none of that is your fault. It is the fault of the people who
created it.

IMDb, generally, does what appears to be a fairly good job of
providing the same info. But not in the case of this particular film.
On this particular film, it only offered to pop up a tab with an
Amazon search for the film. The first entry of which was the rental.
