I wonder if they will do what they did in the old days - have the announcer
come on at the beginning and say "the part of Eric Brady is being
temporarily portrayed by..." When was the last time an actor came in
temporarily to take over a part for just a few episodes before the original
actor returned?

Rick, I wondered, too, how they would announce
the temporary replacement of the actor. Today
(Monday) there was a script posted on the video
before "Eric" was shown, but there was no audio
announcing it. (Chase)

Suzeeq, You nailed this one. I was utterly shocked
by how close the resemblance was between both

I haven't been watching, but I did see a preview and it looks like a good
recast. I like it when the replacement actor can duplicate the inflections
and mannerisms of the original.

For my money, the best recast the show ever did, in terms of the replacement
looking like the original, was Gabi. I thought the original and current
Gabi looked very similar, to the point where they could easily be sisters.

Not sure what the worst recast has been. Ignoring the many examples of
disappointing age-based SORAS recasts (I'm still not over the departure of
Lauren Boles), I guess I'm most annoyed by the Kate Mansi-Marci Miller
trading back and forth of the role of Abigail, since the two look nothing
alike and have distinctively different eye color. Honorable (or
dishonorable) mention to Eileen Davidson and Stacy Haiduk doing a similar
tandem with Kristen, though they at least had the same eye color. And I
won't even mention that bizarre period when Sami was recast with a male
actor, since that move was plot-based.

I too think the recast Gabi was the best ever. And...I liked Lauren
Boles too, I know they have to soras the kids now and then but that one
was disappointing when it happened.

As far as Abigail, I preferred Kate Mansi in the role. I've heard she's
now on GH but I don't watch that show. Nothing agsist Marci Miller but
I couldn't imagine that shower scene with the old EJ with her.

Eileen Davidson has been back on Y&R for some time now.

I don't know if it's true or not, maybe just a rumor, but has anyone
else heard it...something about the actress who played Ariana returning
as a new Gabi?

If you mean Linsday Hartley, the way she looked when she left the series in
2010 certainly does bear a certain resemblance to Gabi's current
appearance - but that was 13 years ago. Lindsay is now 44 (12 years older
than Camila Banus today), so I would think she'd be too old for the part.

I’ve heard the Lindsay Hartley taking over the role of Gabi rumor a few months ago. I just checked Instagram, she and Brandon Barash don’t follow each other so I guess the rumor isn’t true.
