Probably, but he insists it's true. Actually I think you've hit the nail
on the head, though. He seems to swallow advertised claims pretty
easily. He's mentioned before that he uses injector cleaner and that it
makes a distinct improvement to how his car runs, despite there not
being a single bit of credible scientific evidence anywhere in the world
to show that it does *anything* other than dupe morons out of their money.

This is a bloke who claims to have had an evaporative cooler installed
on his house for 20 years, but had no idea how to use it :)

Odd then how I had a sticking injector on my previous car and a dose of
injector cleaner fixed it. Remember, I said it was stuck on initial cold
startup briefly in the morning, then picked up to 4 cylinders.
Just needed a clean. They get a bit of varnish build up in them you see.
I could have used a tankful or two of 98 octane fuel since that fuel has
antifouling additives in it. Just needs to dissolve the varnish so it
passes through the injector nozzles, then Bob's your uncle. Worked for
me. Apparently it has a lot to do with the crap fuel that is 91 octane.
