The total number of infections haven't actualy fallen by almost a million since last week. That would be impossible. It's just government fiddling to make it look like things aren't as bad as they actually are.

Things are in fact steadily getting worse, are worse than they have been for some time. Even factoring out the lie that covid had gone away to allow the Jubilee to proceed.

If the fiddling is discounted, both London and the South East have jumped to over 3 million infections, perhaps the North East also.

It is tempting to throw in the towel, say it's not worth trying to track how bad things are. That is of course the whole intent, what they want.

It's still hard to reconcile the official figures. It seems one in four who gets infected is hospitalised, that we have a Case-Fatality Rate of 3%.

The only logical conclusion is that infections are being understated which is more than likely because they now only count first infections. That's an entirely useless number except to remind us that covid is very much still with us.

If CFR is 0.3% as it has been, and closer to what it is in America, that suggests actual infection rates are ten times higher than what is being reported. That's nearly 200,000 infections every week. That at least fits better with ONS figures.

After the royal funeral super-spreader event it's surprising London isn't the hot-spot of infection spread, has in fact seen the lowest increase in cases.
