My 9150 lasted 13 years, but that doesn't mean it was reliable. It would
routinely miss recordings. (In a semi predictable way)

1) do you really store that many?

2) aren't they collected into one "folder" per series (seems to be the norm
now)

3) It still isn't difficult searching 250 programs stored in alpha order
(again, a feature which is normal)

It is not difficult it is time consuming. It is not difficult to write software
to search a list. They already have a search for EPG contents.

but it's damned fiddly for the user to have to enter in an alpha search
string using the keys on a remote

So perhaps they thought that users wouldn't use it

In general I don't have to enter more than three characters to find an EPG
programme.Iwouldn't describe entering the characters as fiddly,Humax have
stopped making Freesat boxes. Is the market for them small?
