Just watched Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles, one of the most non PC films
ever made and as far as I can remember nothing was cut, bleeped our or
other wise removed or altered.

Spotted that after watching the Endeavour recorded repeat, luckily it
was still in the V6 buffer so it reordered it from the start.

I love Mel Brooks, matches my weird sense of humour, I must find Space
Balls, High Anxiety, Young Frankenstein, History of the World Part 1,
Men in Tights and Dracula, Dead and Loving It, all of which I loved when
I watched them yonks ago on our V2000 or VHS video recorder.

Well, it's non-PC if you think Alf Garnett was non-PC. In reality it's
quite the opposite, a vicious parody of racism and racists, much like
Alf Garnett.

I agree with you 100% but the Wokeflakes can't see this.

You remind me of something that happened not long after I met my wife to
be.

She worked at the reception and records at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary,
many "stars" performing at the Batley Variety club and Wakefield
Theatre Club visited the hospital at the time and handed out free
tickets to the front desk.

Her office was given tickets to see The Black Abbotts and Warren
Mitchell at the W.T.C and she took me with her.

Warren did his Alf Garnett and a part of the audience took offence and
booed him off the stage, before he went he explained he was Jewish and
the show was trying to show the stupidity of the type of people he was
portraying.

It was only our third or fourth date and her colleagues thought it
hilarious to have the compare announce that Michael and Marjorie in the
audience had arranged their wedding for later in the year.

They were closer than they knew, 3 months later we were engaged and 12
months after that we married, as I type we will celebrate 50 years of
marriage in September next year and celebrated 50 years since our first
blind date on the 12th. of June this year with a lovely banquet at the
Pagoda Chinese restaurant in Wakefield.

I just wonder where the years have gone.

I really can't see that being made as a major picture these days. Luckily
the original is pretty much note-perfect.

I hate tennis almost as much as I hate football so the media collection
has taken a bashing recently.

High Anxiety and Spaceballs were good but Young Frankenstein a bit
disappointing, yet to re-watch History of the World part 1, Silent Movie
and To Be Or Not To Be yet.

Red Dwarf series 7 an 8 watched, didn't really work with the female
character being introduced but at least Holly was back in S8.

You do realise you're over 20 years late in watching these episodes?
They were originally released in the late 90s.

The introduction of Kochanski (played by Chloe Annett) was intended as a
Rimmmer replacement and you're right, it never really 'clicked' for me.
It rather threw the entire dynamics of the show off-kilter.

But then red dwarf has never been the same since Rob Grant left...

Is it that long ago, as I said the lack of anything worth watching on
the hundreds of channels led to us resorting to re-watching our archive
shows.

I have gigabytes of old and new series acquired, cough, over the years
that I watched on TV originally and saved to various Hard Drives and
DVD's.
