The Beeb can insist that this year is the 'hottest evah on record', but
fuck that for a game of soldiers.

Currently 14°C, and steady grey overcast with persistent rain.

I am reminded of family holidays in the 1960s, confined to reading books
in grandparents musty house, because instead of shivering on a dank
beach, even my mother baulked at the thought of doing it in the pouring
rain...

Autumn appears to have arrived three months early.

Only Spain and Greece seem to be south of this wild and wet North
Atlantic jet stream.

14*C , you're lucky. It's only 12.6*C here with steady light rain or
drizzle that's not going away any time soon

Yep. Gave up sitting in the cold and turned on the fan heater an hour ago.

It's dropped to 13°C (at RAF Mildenhall, my closest air base) as the
rain passes over. Cold front coming.

Centre of the depression is somewhere in the midlands.

I have ordered as much oil as the tank will hold, at summer prices and
am busy programming my new heating controller. In C and javaCcript.
Intelligent control should save me a huge amount.

I think this summer will be a total washout and it will be a winter to
end all global warming nonsense

I can remember in the 1960's my mother saying she felt sorry for the
holidaymakers as they huddled under their umbrellas on the beach
because their B&B landlady had chucked them out for the day. Very few
second homes in those days, or Aparthotels etc. just B&B or if you
were lucky B&B+EM. Proper hotels, of which there were a few, were for
the 'better off'.

Nothing new about cold wet summers.

FuckinAda. That's going it a bit. I put on a jumper. Luckily the Aga
chucks out 800W into the kitchen. And that filters up to here a boit.
I shut all the windows though.

Already had the woolie stuff on. No Aga to help out, and I'd forgotten
that the window vents (for the log burner in the lounge) were open;
they're now shut! Only had the heater on long enough to bring the room
up to 20°C, and now the sun's out the room should stay warm enough
without the heater.

Low price point was mid-July according to BoilerJuice. Gone up 14p/l or so
since then. I filled up in March as the price kept falling and it was unclear
what the price curve was going to do. In the end it seems to have followed a
traditional curve, but that wasn't obvious back then.

I see it’s being claimed that “it’s the hottest it’s been in the last
125,000 years”.

That’s an interesting cut off, because 150,000 years ago, at the peak of
the last interglacial, it was warmer, sorry, hotter, than at present
(according to the Vostok ice-core record).

I suppose claims like “Planet still cooler than previous interglacials”,
which is equally true, doesn’t fit the current narrative.

And for ~20,000 years of that interglacial, CO2 was relatively constant
even while temperatures were falling from +3 to -4degC.

Sorry, the graph is in degrees of temperature change, not temperatures.

You're not conflating weather with climate are you? Sure sounds like it.

Of course not. Hot weather in Spain and Greece cannot be climate change,
it is, after all, only weather.

I know that's true because the Beeb insisted it *was* climate change.
And like Russia, whatever the beeb currently says is a lie. Always.

And no, there is no record of sea temperatures that is in nay way
reliable, even now, let alone 50 or 100 years ago.

Honestly, you just to need to read it:

"Sea surface temperature measurements made from ships go back more than 150
years and are some of the longest instrumental records available for
understanding the climate".

This was more worrying, as much because they know something's happening but
don't know why. Yet.

Sea surface temperatures are not sea temperatures, The record is
patchy, because ships do not sail everywhere, and the change from
measuring water temperatures by a thermometer in a bucket, compared
with engine coolant intakes let alone buoys dropped in the sea, further
confuses the issue.
The BBCand the Guardian present clear simple messages for simple people.
Its not that simple

Of course we do, but its not man made global warming. Its El Nĩno plus a
